Church Annual Dinner

I'm back from our family trip to Malaysia. We had fun playing Scrabble, Rummikub, Pictionary, and they all got sunburned while swimming. The resort wasn't very well-maintained, so I didn't really like it, but at least my bed was nice.

Haha, once I asked them, "What do you miss most from home?" This is presuming we had nice accommodation stuff. The answers ranged from Internet use to the guinea pig. I really missed my laptop, with all the music inside.

I got to eat durian!!! What a miracle! We bought 3 durians from the night market, where we also ate our dinner, comprising satay, kebabs in a bun, goreng pisang, chicken, nasi lemak...

So my brother, sister, brother-in-law and I returned today, while my parents and younger sisters are staying at another place in Malaysia. My brother-in-law was driving at 140-160 km/h, and I was clinging on for dear life! Or else sleeping.

Right when we reached back, we had to bathe quickly and then rush off to church because my brother had band practice for the Watchnight Service tomorrow. I audienced their performance, and I think the singers' mikes need to be louder, or else they'll be overpowered by the musicians.

Then at 7, we went down for the Church Annual Dinner. Then Louis told me they already had 10 people for the Juniors table, and apparently I wasn't one of the 10. I was getting very worried, and Tan Whenn and Dustin were being mean! Haha.

In the end, we squeezed 11 people round the table: Xuan, Dustin, Hongyu, Rachel Wong, Louis, Rachel Ng, Andrea, Jeremy, Ian, Michelle Ng and Christopher.
Christopher was practically sleeping or stoning throughout the dinner, and probably ate less than anyone else.

We played plenty of bridge, even while eating. My poor new deck of cards got bits of soup / food on them I think. It included slapping down a green songsheet on the table, dealing on it, and keeping our sets beside our plates.

We also hid the cards when Rev Chong and Rev Leow walked near, but not when Rev Ng came before the dinner, or when Uncle Daniel took incriminating photos of us.

I think the last time I went for a church annual dinner was 3 years ago or so. That one was a really big event, and held in a nice hotel-ish place. And as always, the EJMYF table is placed in a corner where the noise they make will make the least disturbance. Hmm.

It was fun,
The Xuan
