This is a belated post on our long awaited seniors farewell for choir, which occurred on Friday.
Surprisingly, what I wore was slightly more formal than others. Of course, if you're like Jing An and can't read the font on the card, (he thought the word "formal" was "journal") then it can't be helped.
We were only allowed to go to LT3 by the bottom entrance, outside which was a heart of balloons, since the theme of our farewell is LOVE. Goodness knows why the "S" for "Seniors" was in fact a " $ " sign.
Eunice and Wen Song were the MCs, with Kenneth manning the laptop and typing in random things on the screen for us to see, such as "applause".
We had our dinner first, though I thought it was rather early for dinner. Who eats at five? The seniors sat together and the juniors sat together, and it was rather quiet. I suppose our batch has rather few people compared to previous years, and some people weren't here.
Since Conan hadn't come yet, Yun Tian had to make a speech, after which there were a few rounds of Don't Forget The Lyrics.
The altos item was excellent! It had a medley of songs, and the background singers were really good, and they gave us all roses and medals. The funny thing is that the medals were clearly meant for gymnasts or sports people!
The guys item was nice, except that for the second song, the lead singers were going too much faster than the supporting vocals, who couldn't go faster without messing up, so it was all quite funny.
The video was really nice, with so many pictures of us, especially those from Italy, including the video of me egging on Eugenia to paste the aeroplane sticker on Ling Chung's face!
The sopranos item was good, and I liked the harmonization and little actions. Hence, it has dawned on me that we could consider forming a SSAA choir instead. They really sounded good!
Then Sheena, Xuemin and Caleb performed a song that was composed by Sheena, and it was really touching, except that I couldn't always hear the words.
Finally, the juniors performed Autumn Leaves, with Xuemin conducting. Some of them didn't sing, because they went to get these presents for us, consisting of a choir photo, a CD and a toilet brush that is supposed to resemble a singing microphone! The only thing is that there were very few altos, so I couldn't hear them as well, compared to the sops.
Then came the traditional sort of handing over from the person of the previous position to the current one. It's a pity that some of the previous comm members weren't there to give their gifts. And then some people like Sheena and Xuemin can just give themselves presents, LOL!
I'm very thankful to the juniors for the farewell and performances and gifts that they prepared, even though we could see that at some points the flow was a bit disorganized, and the entire thing was somewhat shorter than previous ones I've been at.
I never thought about graduating from NJChoir, since I've been in it for 3 & 1/2 years, and been an SL for 2 of those years, and had many friends, so it's quite sad to officially leave now.
At this point, some senior will pop up and say, "THERE'S ALWAYS THE ALUMNI." Haha!
