Last night a big group of youths from EJ, CJ and MM went to PS to watch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
My sisters and I went to join some of them for dinner at the Kopitiam [including Priscilla, John, Yun En, Yun Ze (and their sister), Judith, Gin Gin, Qihang, Michelle, Nicholas, Christopher, Andrew, Yunting, Yihern, Magdalene, Noel, Nicklaus, Joanna, Linus, Joseph, Deborah, Anthia], though Rachel and Yan dabao-ed Subway.
Yan and I went into the Puzzle World to have a look around. We saw a puzzle that's the same as the one our mum bought for us to do and hang up at home, only this one was at least twice as big!
At the 7th level where the theatre is, the promotion for the 6th Harry Potter movie had already begun, and there were the life-sized cardboard figures of the 3 main characters. And Yi Hern asked Dickson to take a picture of him with his beloved Emma Watson :D
Yue actually went to print out the synopsis of the movie, and Yan was quickly trying to read it before going in.
Yan: I don't know ANYTHING about Transformers!
Xuan: Okay, never mind, I'll explain to you! Do you know what a Transformer is?
Yan: No!
Xuan:...Okay, you see the Big Big Robot, that's a Transformer!
Yan: Orh, okay.
[Later in the movie, when the small Decepticon appears]
Yan: I thought you said Transformers were big!
Xuan [oops.]
Poor Yan. I think it's not too easy to understand the 2nd movie without watching the first. Especially when all the Autobots/Decepticons look roughly the same. Apparently the only names she heard were 'Optimus Prime' and 'Bumblebee'.
The movie was quite good, I think. Obviously a lot of it was the fighting and CGI and special effects, but those were good! I think the plot/script could have been better at certain parts, and I felt that some of the momentum was ruined by interspersed moments between Sam and Mikaela in their whole when-are-you-going-to-say-you-love-me thing.
One fun thing about watching with so many people is the collective similar shared emotions felt when watching the movie. For example, in the earlier parts there are bits of humour, and even if it's not very high-class humour (his mother runs out of the house in fright and hits her head on a hanging flowerpot) everyone still laughs very loudly and general merriment ensues.
Movie Sam: You see those three stars over there? That's ORION's Belt...
All the Orion Campers: OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!
Haha, so funny!!
We ought to have more events like this! Maybe we can all go watch Harry Potter or something. And find a way to help Yihern steal the Hermione figure.
